The Theme Parks at Disney World, Orlando

Compared to California’s Disney Land, Florida’s Walt Disney World is much more massive, with a feeling akin to magic permeating every theme park housed within. Disney World has a total of four theme parks, two water parks, over 25 themed hotels, camping grounds, golf courses, a shopping and entertainment district, and much more. If you don’t have a lot of time, you can choose to explore a couple of parks in a day, and you can still rest assured of a great time. However, if you want to truly immerse yourself and let your imagination run wild, you should allocate an entire day to explore each park.

Magic Kingdom

Magic Kingdom brings the quintessential Disney experience from California’s Disney Land to Orlando, Florida. The towering Cinderella Castle is the first thing that people tend to notice, standing tall, overlooking the theme park. Magic Kingdom has six themed lands for you to explore – Adventureland, Frontierland®, Fantasyland, Tomorrowland, Liberty Square, and Main Street, USA®. Apart from the rides and shows, Magic Kingdom is also packed with fun shops, dining options, and character encounters.

Most Popular Rides

  • Space Mountain: Located in Tomorrowland, Space Mountain is an indoor roller coaster that can make you feel like you are racing through the cosmos, with its amazing light and sound effects.
  • Splash Mountain: This log ride takes you around and into a mountain that has been designed after the ‘Song of the South’, a 1946 Disney movie. The ride offers a great thematic experience but what makes it special is the 50-feet drop towards the end of the ride.

Shows to Watch

  • The Happily Ever After Fireworks: End your day with a fireworks show that is sure to dazzle you. The firework extravaganza perfectly captures the heart and soul of all your favourite Disney movies.
  • Disney Festival of Fantasy: The Disney Festival of Fantasy is an exciting parade show with all your favourite Disney characters. The parade usually starts from Main Street at 3:00 PM every day and travels all the way to Adventureland.

Animal Kingdom

The Animal Kingdom theme park is another experience that you won’t find in California’s Disney Land. At Orlando, Florida, tickets to Disney World’s Animal Kingdom will take you on a unique adventure, where you will be able to see wildlife from different regions and learn all about them. Walt Disney himself used to advocate for animal conservation and preserving the natural environment, which has been brought to life at Animal Kingdom, housing a number of gorillas, tigers, and lions. Animal Kingdom also has six lands that you can explore – Pandora – The World of Avatar, Oasis, Discovery Island®, Africa, Asia, DinoLand USA.

Most Popular Rides

  • Expedition Everest: Legend of the Forbidden Mountain: Located in Animal Kingdom’s Asia region. The ride takes you towards the top of the Himalayan mountains, where a huge beast is rumoured to live. The ride is an adrenaline-pumping experience with broken tracks, sudden drops, and much more.
  • Kali River Rapids: This ride is pretty similar to the Splash Mountain ride, except that this one takes you through lush greenery instead of a mountain.

Shows to Watch

  • Festival of the Lion King: This 30-minute show takes place from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM every day. Featuring giant puppets, the show will envelop you in the majesty of Pride Rock through its narrative.
  • Rivers of Light: We Are One: This show does not include any fireworks, as that would disturb the animals, but it features a vibrant set that more than makes up for it. Incredible special effects accompany a strong music score, making the show a great way to end your day of adventure at Animal Kingdom.

EPCOT

EPCOT

The Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow is one of the most intriguing parks at Disney World FL. It showcases the concept of a community that is always moving forward on the path to human progress and achievement. The park acts as a permanent world fair, displaying state-of-the-art inventions and technologies from around the world. EPCOT has four neighbourhoods or areas – World Celebration, World Discovery, World Nature, and World Showcase.

Most Popular Rides

  • Mission Space: Get into the seat of a manned space mission simulator and either choose a simple excursion around Earth or go for an intense operation to land a spacecraft on Mars.

The park consists of seven areas – Hollywood Boulevard, Echo Lake, Sunset Boulevard, Animation Courtyard, Grand Avenue, Star War’s Galaxy’s Edge, and Toy Story Land. However, unlike the other theme parks at Disney World FL, Hollywood Studios is a mass of buildings and streets that just blend into each other.

  • Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith: The exciting roller coaster experience is accompanied by top tunes from the legendary rockstar, Aerosmith, effectively adding some extra thrill to the ride.
  • Twilight Zone of Terror: Designed based on the award-winning ‘Twilight Zone’, this ride can be found on Sunset Boulevard and promises a dark and thrilling experience, with rises, drops, and maybe even a trip to another dimension.

Shows to Watch

  • Wonderful World of Animation: This nightly finale is started by the mouse in the house. Mickey will take you through a comprehensive retelling of the history of animation and Disney magic in the show, which is held every day at 9:05 PM at the Grauman Chinese Theatre.
