COVID-19: Public Notice No. 9

On the 11th of March 2020, the World Health Organisation (WHO) declared the COVID-19 outbreak a global pandemic (www.who.int). On the same day, the Government of India issued travel related notifications which effectively shut down all modes of travel, both within India and also to foreign countries (www.india.gov.in). Around this time, similar travel restrictions also came to be imposed by governments of many countries the world over. Further, across the world these travel restrictions were accompanied by lockdown on the movement of people, and also on commercial activities.

This force majeure situation and the worldwide travel related lockdown made it impossible for tourists (individuals and groups) to undertake their travel plans, and altogether making it impossible for travel and tourism companies like Veena World to deliver services, despite most travel logistics at our end being in a state of readiness, sometimes over a year in advance.

Under these circumstances, and particularly with a view to ensure that guests do not lose their hard earned monies, Veena World postponed all its group tour departures with minimum tour transfer charges. Since lockdowns have been continually extended, Veena World has postponed all its group tours departures until 31st August 2020. Further postponements, would only be in line with travel advisories issued by the Indian as well as other governments.

Since travel restrictions have been continually extended, a large number of Veena World guests, following Veena World's various Public Notices (totalling 8 notices), have opted to postpone their tours to a future date departing before March 31, 2021; and these guests have also been issued their future tour vouchers.

Recently, many guests have enquired with us whether these future tour vouchers can be extended for travel beyond March 31, 2021? At great risk in these uncertain times, Veena World is happy to announce that the future tour option has now been extended for travel before December 31, 2021 (subject of course to travel related notifications of various governments). For these future tours (except those during super peak season dates where surcharge would be applicable) Veena World will honour the original tour price paid by guests; however, there will be a small tour transfer charge payable. This charge is towards one or more of the following factors such as but not limited to: fresh visa charges, foreign exchange fluctuations, airline and hotel slab changes, increase in paid sightseeing charges and Veena World’s operational expenses. Additional GST will be applicable for this difference amount. The said charge would be payable when guests confirm dates of their future travel. Guests are however requested to note that when normalcy returns upon lifting of travel and tourism restrictions, Veena World would work closely with its partners/associates worldwide to try and reduce the said tour transfer charges even lower. Further, should our worldwide associates give us any reduction/consideration, that would immediately be credited to guest’s future tour voucher.

Our guests would appreciate that despite there being no guarantee that prices worldwide (including taxes) will or will not increase over the next 18 months, we at Veena World are taking that risk purely keeping in mind interests of our guests. Veena World is hoping that its substantial goodwill in the business would elicit co-operation from all its travel and tourism associates like the airlines, the consulates, various hoteliers, different rail-bodies, cruise organisers, transport companies and also all paid sightseeing/attractions in India and across the World to keep the tour transfer charges to the minimum.

The Veena World team has nearly completed the process of contacting guests travelling until September 30, 2020; and guests are also requested to immediately contact their Veena World sales advisor for getting their future tour vouchers. Guests who have opted to cancel the tour, please note that refunds would be / have been made as per Veena World policy.

Individual travellers who have booked their holidays with Veena World's ‘Customized Holidays’ division have been contacted for postponement of their holiday. Any difference in holiday prices due to change of travel dates/hotels/package category/fare difference/GST will be additional and will be advised at the time of confirmation of a holiday as per revised dates.

Guests are requested to note that all Veena World offices will remain closed until relevant authorities permit them to be opened. Since ‘Unlock 3.0’, after four months of strict lockdown, has now been initiated by the Government of India, Veena World targets to open its Sales Offices and Corporate Office on 27th September 2020, which is the World Tourism day. However, Veena World remains digitally accessible to it's guests/customers from July 1, 2020 through the Toll-Free number 1800227979, travel@veenaworld.com, and the website enquiry form.

Veena World looks forward to serving you soon and wishes you and your family good health & safety.
