Mysore, also known as Mysuru, is famous for the Mysore Palace, one of India's most magnificent royal residences and a former seat of the Wadiyar dynasty, especially spectacular when illuminated on Sunday evenings and during the Dussehra festival. The city is also known for Mysore silk sarees, sandalwood products, and the annual Mysore Dasara celebrations.
Mysore's main attractions include the Mysore Palace, Chamundi Hills with the Chamundeshwari Temple and panoramic city views, Brindavan Gardens with its musical fountain show, St Philomena's Church, and the Devaraja Market known for spices, flowers and local produce. Veena World Mysore tours cover these key highlights, often combined with nearby Bangalore or Coorg.
October to March is the best time to visit Mysore with comfortable temperatures for palace tours and city sightseeing. The Mysore Dasara festival, celebrated with grand processions and palace illumination, takes place in September or October and is a spectacular time to visit if travel coincides with the festival dates.

The Mysore Palace is illuminated with nearly 100,000 light bulbs every Sunday evening and on public holidays, creating a spectacular golden glow visible from across the city. During the Dussehra festival period, the palace is illuminated nightly. Veena World itineraries are timed where possible to allow guests to view this iconic illumination.
