Get to know more about Tezpur before booking your tour packages
The city of Tezpur is the fifth largest in Assam and is well connected by rail, road, and air via Guwahati and it takes about a four hours' drive from Guwahati to travel to Tezpur.
Legend has it that the erstwhile ruler of the city, Bana Raja, did not take too kindly to the affections of Lord Krishna's grandson Anirudha towards his daughter Usha. Things came to such a pass that the king incarcerated his daughter in the fortress of Agnigarh. Anirudha wouldn't let his love to be snatched away like this and there ensued a terrible battle between Bana Raja and Lord Krishna. Many lives and bloodshed later, the city came to be known as Tezpur.
History is not the only aspect that defines a Tezpur trip; and as an up and coming modern city, Tezpur tourism has a lot to offer to visitors.

Things to Do in Tezpur
Tezpur is not defined by its temples alone as it has something for everyone. Not only the city but the tourist places around it are worth a visit as well. Here are a few places to explore on your trip, which you can add to your online Tezpur tour package, available at cost-effective prices at Veena World:
Agnigarh:
The fortress that held Bana Raja's daughter Usha, to keep her from Anirudha, sits majestically atop a hillock. It is said that the fortress was surrounded by fire to keep the enemy away and thus is named Agnigarh, which translates to the 'residence amidst fire'. The circular stairway to the top is a trek in itself with images from the past to keep you company. Once you reach the top, take a moment to savour the breath-taking views. The serenity and beauty surrounding the hilltop will surely leave you spellbound.
Cole Park or Chitralekha Udyan:
This park was commissioned by a British Deputy Commissioner, Mr. Cole, and it came to be known as Cole Park in his memory. But this is not just another park that you can explore on your Tezpur travel. This one boasts of a horse-shoe shaped lake and several natural walkways, perfect for a leisurely stroll with lush greenery and beauty all around. This place is also the site of the ancient ornamented pillars of the Bamuni Hills. Make sure that you plan a visit to the park when you buy your Tezpur tour package online from Veena World.
Bhomoraguri:
The Ahoms ruled Assam for nearly six centuries from the 13th to the 19th century. The Ahom General Kalia Bhomora Phukan planned to construct a bridge over the Brahmaputra river which would connect the districts of Nagaon and Tezpur. A stone inscription of the ancient plan of the bridge is on display at Cole Park. The general's plan finally came to fruition nearly two centuries later with the construction of the 3.05 km long concrete road bridge called the Kalia Bhomora Setu.
Bamuni Hills:
These hills are famous for their 9th and 10th-century ruins. The most famous among these sculptural and structural vestiges are the Da Parbatia ruins which date back to the 4th century AD. These hills also house the Bhairabi and Mahabhairab temples as well as Bor Pukhuri (bor in Assamese means big and pukhuri means pond) and Podum Pukhuri (translates to lotus pond). The Bamuni Hills is a history lover's delight and attract tourists from all over the world.
District Museum at Dak Bungalow:
This is a place dedicated to the culture and heritage of Assam and an important part of Tezpur Tourism. On display here are ancient manuscripts, inscriptions, sculptures, coins, traditional Assamese textiles, etc.
