Manikaran Pilgrimage Packages
There are very few pilgrimages that invoke divinity like the Manikaran Pilgrimage.
Manikaran is a quaint little town in Himachal Pradesh. It lies in the Parvati Valley between the rivers Beas and Parvati and is renowned for being home to the revered Gurudwara Manikaran Sahib, as well as Hindu temples dedicated to Rama, Krishna and Vishnu. It is a famous pilgrimage spot and also attracts people from near and far for its natural hot springs with therapeutic properties.
Located amidst a peaceful and picturesque setting at an altitude of 1760 m, Manikaran holds immense religious significance for both Sikh and Hindu pilgrims. Manikaran Temple of Bholenath is dedicated to Lord Shiva. There are many legends linked to this temple, especially related to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. As per certain legends, Parvati lost her earring in Manikaran while taking a stroll with Shiva, and Shesh Nag disappeared into the earth with the earring. Parvati asked Shiva to retrieve it, and then he did the Tandava dance to get it. The serpent then threw up the jewel through the water. This earring or 'mani' (jewel) - 'karn' (ear) gives the town its name.
Gurudwara Sahib in Manikaran, on the other hand, is one of the holiest Sikh pilgrimage sites. Guru Nanak and his five disciples are said to have visited this Gurudwara. It is believed that this is the first place where Guru Nanak Dev Ji meditated and performed great miracles.
