Manikaran Pilgrimage Packages

There are very few pilgrimages that invoke divinity like the Manikaran Pilgrimage.

Manikaran is a quaint little town in Himachal Pradesh. It lies in the Parvati Valley between the rivers Beas and Parvati and is renowned for being home to the revered Gurudwara Manikaran Sahib, as well as Hindu temples dedicated to Rama, Krishna and Vishnu. It is a famous pilgrimage spot and also attracts people from near and far for its natural hot springs with therapeutic properties.

Located amidst a peaceful and picturesque setting at an altitude of 1760 m, Manikaran holds immense religious significance for both Sikh and Hindu pilgrims. Manikaran Temple of Bholenath is dedicated to Lord Shiva. There are many legends linked to this temple, especially related to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. As per certain legends, Parvati lost her earring in Manikaran while taking a stroll with Shiva, and Shesh Nag disappeared into the earth with the earring. Parvati asked Shiva to retrieve it, and then he did the Tandava dance to get it. The serpent then threw up the jewel through the water. This earring or 'mani' (jewel) - 'karn' (ear) gives the town its name.

Gurudwara Sahib in Manikaran, on the other hand, is one of the holiest Sikh pilgrimage sites. Guru Nanak and his five disciples are said to have visited this Gurudwara. It is believed that this is the first place where Guru Nanak Dev Ji meditated and performed great miracles.

Experience the Best of Manikaran

Your itinerary for a Manikaran tour should include the following.

Manikaran Sahib Gurudwara: Manikaran Sahib Gurudwara is a widely revered place for Sikhs. It is also popular for its distinctive, picturesque location. This Gurudwara lies on the banks of the gorgeous Parvati River, surrounded by towering mountains. As per Sikh legends, Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the founder of Sikhism, visited this sacred site in the 16th century. As per the legend, when Guru Nanak Ji was meditating by the river, his followers were concerned about the lack of fire for cooking. Guru Nanak Ji asked them to lift a stone, from which a hot spring emerged and provided an abundance of boiling water. Today Sikh pilgrims from near and far visit Gurudwara Sahib in Manikaran to take a dip in the hot springs.

Lord Shiva Temple: Dating back centuries, this temple in Manikaran is steeped in folklore and mythology. According to legends, hot springs were created here when Lord Shiva struck the ground with his trident in order to retrieve the lost earrings of Goddess Parvati. Shiva Temple in Manikaran is a blend of natural wonder and spiritual reverence.  Manikaran Temple of Bholenath is dedicated to Lord Shiva, and devotees visiting it typically take part in a variety of prayers, rituals and communal activities. The temple features intricate woodwork, reflecting the master craftsmanship of yesteryears. This temple stands against the backdrop of the gorgeous Himalayas, and provides a serene ambience to both devotees and tourists.

Shri Ramchandra Temple: In Manikaran, you will also find an ancient temple dedicated to Lord Ram. This temple was built in the 17th century, during the reign of Raja Jagat Singh. Shri Ramchandra Temple houses the idols of Lord Ram and his consort, Devi Sita.

Manikaran Hot Springs: These hot springs contain Uranium and other radioactive elements. The water in the springs is very hot, so much so that it is even possible to boil rice with it. Many pilgrims consider the Manikaran hot springs to be holy, and hence they are a prominent pilgrimage and sightseeing spot in the region.
