Experience The Best Of Orissa

A trip to Orissa would provide you with memorable experiences. There is a wide variety of places to visit and explore in this state. Add this list of Odisha tourism places to your itinerary: -

Daringbadi: Daringbadi tourism in Orissa has gained significant popularity over the years. It is a charming hill station that lies at an elevation of 3000 feet, in a state that is most famous for beaches and temples. Daringbadi is characterized by gorgeous green valleys, coffee gardens and pine trees. It is considered to be the “Kashmir of Odisha” by many.

Udaygiri and Khandagiri Caves: These caves are among the most important highlights of Odisha tour and tourism. The Udayagiri and Khandagiri caves are located on two neighbouring hills near Bhubaneswar. Udayagiri, meaning "Sunrise Hill," is home to 18 caves, starting at the hill's base. The most notable among them is "Rani Gumpha" or "Queen's Cave,” which is a double-storied structure adorned with carvings depicting royal victories, religious motifs, and scenes from the king's court. Khandagiri, meaning "Broken Hill," features 15 caves and includes a few Jain temples. Together, these caves are significant historical and cultural sites, reflecting the artistic and religious heritage of the region.

Jagannath Temple: Any Orissa tourism package would seem incomplete without a visit to the Jagannath Temple. It is believed to be the divine abode of Lord Vishnu, Lord Balaram and Goddess Subhadra. The Jagannath Temple is made so that it casts no shadow here on earth at any time of day. The 20-foot-high chakra of the temple is positioned in a manner that it can be seen from everywhere in the city.  The flag of the temple is replaced every day. To do so, a priest climbs to the top of the temple, which is as tall as a 45-story skyscraper.

Konark Sun Temple: Tourism in Orissa is widely renowned for the Konark Sun Temple, a wonderful UNESCO World Heritage Site. The design of the temple follows the popular Kalinga school of temple architecture, and has a distinctive chariot shape. The stone walls of the temple are engraved with thousands of images of deities, people, birds, animals, as well as mythological creatures.

Dhauli Shanti Stupa: Located on the banks of the Daya River, this stupa is a symbol of peace. It is also a historical monument that reflects the legacy of Buddhism in the country. The site is believed to be the place where Emperor Ashoka waged the Kalinga War in 262 B.C., which eventually led to his transformation and adoption of Buddhism.
