Experience The Best Of Goa

When creating an itinerary for a Goa tour you should consider including the following places.

•    Calangute Beach: The biggest reason for the popularity of Goa tourism in India is its beaches, Calangute Beach being one of them. Calangute Beach is the longest beach in North Goa and is often referred to as the "Queen of Beaches" as well. At this bustling beach, you would find a wide variety of eating joints, shacks and clubs serving cocktails and seafood. At Calangute Beach, you may try out water sports like parasailing, water surfing, banana rides and jet-skiing.

•    Centre for Indo-Portuguese Arts: When talking about Goa and tourism, the name of CIPA (Centre for Indo-Portuguese Arts) often stands out. This is a 200-year-old Indo-Portuguese heritage house in Panjim city and overlooks the River Mandovi. It is the perfect place to explore Indo-Portuguese literature, music, and ceramics. Here you can indulge in a wide variety of Portuguese snacks like empadinhas, rissois, and Portuguese custard tarts.

•    Baga Beach: Often known as the nerve centre of beach hopping in the region, Baga Beach is an important aspect of tourism in Goa. This stunning beach is a hub for adventure sports. It is lined by a variety of restaurants and is the perfect place to laze around under the sun. After sundown, however, Baga Beach transforms into a beach party destination. It is a great place to try out activities like banana rides, motorboat rides, water skiing, and jet skiing.

•    Fort Aguada: Goa tourism in India would feel incomplete without a visit to Fort Aguada, which lies strategically at the estuary of the river Mandovi. Built by the Portuguese in 1609-1612, this structure houses a lighthouse and a central jail. The latter was turned into an interactive museum in 2015. The word ‘aguada’ means ‘watery’ in Portuguese. Fort Aguada was named as such as there was a freshwater spring inside the fort which supplied water to the boats that stopped by. People often visit Fort Aguada for its lone four-storey lighthouse and stunning sunset views.

•    Dudhsagar Falls: This is one of the tallest waterfalls in India and is located inside the Mollem National Park. Dudhsagar Falls is a magnificent waterfall whose name literally translates to the Sea of Milk. The 310 m high waterfall is divided into four tiers on the Mandovi River and largely resembles a heavy rush of milk flowing down the hill effortlessly.

How To Reach Goa

•    By Flight: Goa International Airport at Dabolim is the only airport in the state. Regular flights from major Indian cities like Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi, Hyderabad, Pune, Chennai, Jaipur, and Ahmedabad land at this airport.

•    By Train: Goa has six railway stations, the Madgaon Station being the biggest one. The state falls on the Konkan Railway line and is connected via direct trains to almost all major cities across India.

•    By Road:  You can find buses to Goa from cities like Mumbai, Pune, and Bangalore.
