Digha is a well-known coastal town located in the East Midnapore district of West Bengal.  People from across India book Digha tourism packages and plan a trip to this town to explore its gorgeous beaches. This popular seaside resort city offers a delightful blend of natural beauty, where the golden sands meet the gentle waves of the Bay of Bengal, creating a truly alluring ambience. Digha tourism is popular among travellers of all types. No matter whether you desire a romantic getaway with your partner or simply want to go on a solo trip to escape the chaos of daily life, visiting Digha would be a good idea.

Digha tourism attractions are accompanied by lip-smacking seafood. Here you would find a wide variety of eateries, roadside stalls, and restaurants that serve rich, flavourful, and authentic Bengali cuisine. You would get to indulge in mouth-watering dishes like crab curry, prawn malai curry, and other seafood delicacies here. Some of the stalls also provide an "on-demand cooking” facility ie. you can buy fresh fish from the local fishermen and have it cooked on the spot for a freshly prepared meal!

On your trip to Digha, you will also have many markets and shopping options to explore. There are several stalls and stores here that sell a variety of handicrafts and souvenirs, including items made from seashells, making them ideal gifts to bring back home for family and friends.

Experience The Best Of Digha

Here are a few Digha tourism attractions that must be a part of your itinerary.

•    New Digha Beach: Lying about 2 kms away from the Old Digha Beach, this destination is a man-made attraction popular for its larger expanse but lesser crowd density. At the New Digha Beach, you will find a vast stretch of golden sand and calm, pristine, clean waters, making it a key aspect of Digha tourism.  This beach is particularly renowned for its stunning sunset and sunrise views. Watching the golden rays of the sun reflect off the sparkling sea would certainly be a memory to cherish for a lifetime.

•    Marine Station/Aquarium of Zoological Survey of India: For people interested in marine life and science, the most important Digha tourism attractions include this Marine Aquarium Cum Regional Centre or MARC. It is popular for housing one of the largest inbuilt aquariums in India. The aquarium has creatures categorised under three types - species of conservative importance, 'local and curious' species, and freshwater species. Here you may get to spot sharks, rays, butterfly fishes, sea snakes, sea anemones, lobsters, horseshoe crabs and more.

•    Shankarpur Beach: As you book Digha tourism packages, it would be a good idea to visit the Shankarpur Beach. The white sand, clean water and mildly blowing winds of Shankarpur Beach make it among the most prominent beach destinations on the Eastern Coast. You may even buy fresh fish from the fishermen here and have it cooked at nearby eateries. Local Bengali cuisine, especially the seafood delicacies, is definitely worth a try.

•    Chandaneswar Temple: Dedicated to Lord Shiva, this is among the most popular Digha tourism attractions and pilgrimage sites. It attracts numerous people from nearby cities and towns, especially during the annual Chandaneswar Mela. A visit to the Chandaneswar Temple would help you get a glimpse into the local culture and traditions of the state.

•    Digha Mohana: Digha Mohona Watch Point is the confluence of the River Champa and the great Bay of Bengal. It is a picturesque spot that would provide you with a view of a unique natural spectacle. This Digha sightseeing spot is located near Old Digha Beach, where the Subarnarekha River meets the Bay of Bengal. The confluence of both the water bodies at Digha Mohana creates a breathtaking sight. This place provides stunning views of the sunrise as well.
