3. Camel Safari at Hunder Sand Dunes

One of the best activities to partake in when camping in Nubra Valley is riding the Bactrian Double Humped Camel through the white sand dunes of Hunder Village in Nubra Valley. At a height of about 12,000 feet above sea level, the valley is one of the highest white deserts in the world where you can experience an exhilarating camel safari.

Hunder Village perfectly represents the majestic hues of Nubra Valley’s topography and is among the best places to see in Nubra Valley. Take this 2-hour ride and travel over the Ladakhi sand dunes and sync with the spectacular natural beauty of the valley. You’ll have to get used to the rolling and wobbly movements of the camel as you explore the fertile and lush apricot orchards, rugged mountain terrains, frozen desserts, and remote villages of Nubra.

4. Trekking in Nubra Valley

The Nubra Valley Trek passes through Khardungla Pass. After trekking through the pass, you will see Khardung Village, Khalser, and Diskit. From here, a 2-hour camel ride can be taken to Hunder village.

Khardungla Pass is the gateway to the Shyok and Nubra Valley. At a height of 18,380 feet above sea level, it is said to be the highest motorable road in the world. Hunder Village is famous for a small monastery that is located on the ancient Silk Route. You can also explore the pretty villages in the valley like Tirit, Lukun, and Sumur. Next on the route is the Diskit Monastery, also known as the Diskit Gompa. It is one of the oldest Buddhist monasteries in the valley and is believed to have been built in the 14th century. These are also among the best places to visit in Nubra Valley.
