There is something about Shanghai that no other city in the world has. It is beautiful, vibrant, and has a plethora of interesting places to be at during your trip. The best part about the city is the diversity that it holds. With the eccentric museums, the contemporary art, world-famous dumplings, and the enchanting Buddha Temples; you are going to have your hands full when on a trip to Shanghai. All these things together make it a happening city and one of the best places to visit in China.

Since the early 20th century, Shanghai has been giving tough competition to world-renowned cities such as Paris, London, and New York with its vibrant lifestyle, diversity and private clubs. There are so many places to visit in Shanghai that offer enticing sightseeing opportunities to travellers. Go for a well-planned Shanghai tour package for a hassle-free experience. 1. Bund

The Bund is a beautifully designed waterfront boulevard that runs along the Huangpujiang River. It is a popular leisure spot in Shanghai where people love to take a morning or evening walk alongside the road in the walking path. The design of Bund gives the travellers a European feel as they walk on the side alley. It is always crowded because during the morning, it is a thing of natural beauty and at night, the skyscrapers are lit with neon lights that make for a spellbinding view. This is one of the best reasons that make Bund the perfect place to visit in Shanghai at night. Also, if you are here at dawn, you can catch a glimpse of people practising tai chi or exercising.

2. Tianzifang

China is known for its markets, cafes, and restaurants. If you are looking for a place where you can shop, eat and enjoy your time chatting with the locals, then head to Tianzifang. It is a maze of alleys that is situated in between the former residential areas and red brick houses. This place is filled with shops, restaurants and cafes where travellers can find plenty to eat, drink, and buy. Tianzifang is, in fact, one of the best places to visit in Shanghai if you like shopping, so don’t give it a miss. Though you have Xintiandi which is the first choice for tourists looking to shop, Tianzifang is also known to have an abundance of traditional stuff on sale throughout the year.

3. Yu Garden

Amidst the modern way of life and contemporary buildings, the traditional past of China has been fading away. But while you are in Shanghai, you can certainly witness how traditional China felt. Yu Garden is one of the few old sights of the city that can surely take you into the past of the country. The design, pictures and every other thing that is available on the premises of the garden make it one of the best tourist attractions in Shanghai.Around the Yu Garden, tourists find a lot of street food stalls that serve mouth-watering cuisines.

4. The Jade Buddha Temple

Built during the Song Dynasty, the Jade Buddha Temple of Shanghai is almost 100 years old. Two white Buddha statues look beautiful in the middle of the temple. Interestingly, this temple was built in the 1920s for the second time because the old temple was destroyed during the revolution period. The two statues are in two different positions - the first one is in a sitting position and depicts Buddha meditating while the other statue is in a resting position. The entire temple is beautifully made in with symmetrical courtyards and halls, bright yellow coloured walls, and eaves turned upside. Currently, the temple draws a lot of tourists who are on Shanghai sightseeing tours.

5. Shanghai Museum

The exteriors of the popular Shanghai Museum looks like a Ding. The word ‘Ding’ in Chinese means a cooking vessel made out of bronze that was used in ancient China. This massive building is home to 11 different galleries that has more than 120,000 pieces in store for the tourists. The Shanghai Museum has ancient paintings, artefacts, sculptures, jade, Ming, calligraphy and a lot of other stuff that makes it one of the best tourist attractions in Shanghai. There is also a separate gallery of dresses and costumes that showcases the impeccable handicraft of more than 55 ethnic groups that were in minority during ancient times.

6. Oriental Pearl Tower

The 468m tall radio and TV tower of Shanghai that goes by the name of Oriental Pearl Tower is one of the tallest buildings in the city and a must-visit destination for the tourists. Built in the year 1991, the skyscraper gives a mesmerizing view of the Bund and other spots of the city from the top. Apart from the view, it also has a revolving restaurant that is a VR roller coaster riding area. Being one of the best places in Shanghai for tourists,the tower actively hosts thousands of tourists every year. The pearl tower has a glass floor observatory that is 350m above the ground which makes observing the city a thrilling event. So, if you are planning to visit Shanghai, it wouldn’t be wise to miss out on the fun that’s in store at the tower. That said, definitely not for the faint of heart.

7. Shanghai Natural History Museum

 Visiting the Shanghai Natural History Museum is going to be a treat for those who love visiting Museums. This huge building that spreads across 40,000 square metres houses more than 240,000 artefacts, some of which date back to more than 140 million years ago was built in 1956. This museum was opened for tourists in the year 2015, after which it attracted a lot of tourists thus making it one of the best Shanghai sightseeing spot.
