Lakkam Waterfalls

Located roughly about 25 km from the Munnar bus stand, it is one of the popular Munnar waterfalls. Everyone who visits Munnar makes it a point to visit Lakkam waterfalls. It is a beautiful waterfall to have a picnic near it. It also has a small freshwater pond where the waterfalls. Although the water is icy cold, that’s not a deterrent for an adventurer to take a dip in the water. Take that dive and swim in the cold water of Lakkam waterfalls. You will not even know where the time went by.

The waterfall is surrounded by dense and lush Vaga trees that feel like it is detached from the outside world. You will not want to go back once you visit Lakkam Waterfalls. While you are there, you can also visit the Eravikulam National Park for seeing some wild animals.

Attukal Waterfalls

Attukal waterfalls in Munnar is one of the most beautiful and elegant waterfalls. It is located roughly 10 km from Munnar, towards Pallivasal. The tale about the Chinnakanal waterfall is that Sita Devi, the wife of Lord Rama, took a dip in this river. This is where the river’s name Devikulam comes from. Cheeyapara Waterfalls

In the many lists made about the most beautiful waterfalls near Munnar, there is one waterfall that has never been excluded, and should never be excluded - Cheeyapara waterfalls. It is located on the Kochi-Madurai Highway, between Adimali and Neriamanagalam in the Idukki district. The beauty of the seven-tiered waterfall is a sight to behold. Watching the stream fall 7 steps from the top of the mountain to a pond is bound to take your breath away. The forest around Cheeyapara waterfall near Munnar is spread across an area of 2 acres. Here, you can partake in adventure sports like trekking, rock climbing, and mountain climbing. Whether you want your day to be relaxing or full of adventures is up to you.

Kuthumkal Waterfalls

One of the most beautiful Munnar waterfalls, Kuthumkal Waterfalls is so beautiful that it sweeps the ground from beneath your feet. It is awe-inspiring, to say the least, to watch the pristine white water slide, slither, and fall down a large rock. You must have seen those waterfalls in the movies that are isolated from the world and their height is unbelievably high. Here, you can see the water roar from the top of the rock all the way down into the stream. The natural beauty of this Munnar waterfall is mesmerizing.

The waterfall is located away from the polluted environment, so you can be one with nature here, away from the city. Located about 24 km from Munnar and 6 km from Rajakkad, you can spend a day of the picnic here or take a trek along the side of the giant rock.

Thoovanam Waterfalls

Thoovanam waterfall in Munnar is a place that you must visit during your trip. Here, the waterfalls and hits the rock with full force, the sound of water striking the rock is very calming and soul-refreshing. The waterfall originates from the Chinnar River, and you can sit next to the waterfall to hear the buzzing sound of the water slide and fall down the rock. There is Chinnar Wildlife Park nearby that you can visit.

And like any other waterfall, you can go for a trek here as well. Surprisingly, you will not be fatigued by the trek and will feel only energetic. Note that trekking here is a guided program and will take around 3 hours to complete. On the trek, you will observe some of the most beautiful and natural sceneries you have ever seen.

Valara Waterfalls

When you’re visiting Cheeyapara waterfall between Adimal and Neriamangalam, you must also visit Valara waterfalls nearby. Located about 40 km from Munnar, here you can see the waterfall from the massive height of 1000 m. The sound of the water will practically drown out all sounds, but it will also be a very calming experience. It’s a treat for eyes as well as ears.

Nyayamakad Waterfalls

The last waterfall near Munnar, and not any less beautiful than others on the list, is Nyayamakad waterfall. It’s located between Rajamala and Munnar, and is one of the best spots for a picnic as well as trekking. Here, you can also observe the fantastic tea plantation that Kerala is also known for. There is also a forest of sandalwood in the vicinity that you can visit and experience the beautiful tranquility that this place offers.
