1. Mount Elbrus

Mount Elbrus is situated in Southern Russia in the Caucasus Mountain Range. It finds its name in the list of Seven Summits which are the highest summits in all the continents of the earth. 2. Kizhi Island

3. Valley of Geysers

Located in the Russian Far East on the Kamchatka Peninsula, the Valley of Geysers is the second largest geyser field in the entire world. The oldest and deepest lake on the earth, Lake Baikal is on the travel wish list of many. An interesting fact to note here is that the lake holds about 20% of the total fresh water in the world. Situated in Siberia, the lake has stunning mountain ranges in its surroundings, making for a breathtaking view. Being a 25-million-year-old lake, the lake is one of the clearest lakes in the world. 5. St Sophia Cathedral, Novgorod

One of the oldest cities of Russia, Novgorod houses the Saint Sophia Cathedral. Standing at 125 feet, the cathedral has a total of five magnificent domes. Dating back to the 12th century, the three gates of the cathedral are ornately carved especially the west doors that have portraits of the artists and miniature cast-bronze biblical scenes. Being the oldest church building in the country, it is unquestionably one of the most interesting places to visit in Russia where you get to see ancient religious artifacts.

6. Hermitage Museum

The Hermitage Museum was founded by Catherine the Great. Being one of the most exciting places to see in Russia, the museum showcases a collection of over 3 million pieces. These collections are present in a big complex that has a number of historic buildings. One of the buildings here is the Winter Palace where the Russian emperors resided once. The museum is located in Saint Petersburg and looks breathtakingly beautiful.

After you are done visiting the museum, you can then head to discovering the other parts of Saint Petersburg. It is the second largest city in Russia depicting a lot in terms of history, culture, and art. 7. Saint Basil's Cathedral

9. Trans-Siberian Railway
