Know More About Badrinath Before Booking Your Holiday Packages

The Seasons - Best Time to Visit

Planning your trip to Badrinath with the right knowledge only enhances the whole experience.

Because of its location near the Indian Himalayan range, Badrinath has been chilly and cold throughout the year. Even during summers when most of the country is bathing in the sweltering heat, Badrinath offers a reprieve. The onset of summer and peak season are the best times to visit Badrinath. The average temperature typically settles at 18°C, so it is better to pack warm clothes for your trip to Badrinath. In addition to sightseeing in Badrinath, summer is also an ideal time to partake in adventure activities like trekking.

But, as bustling summers gradually move to monsoon, regular pitter-patters from rain clouds arrive, and in winter, the holy town gets covered in thick snow.

The Experience - Places to Visit

Badrinath Mandir

One of the most popular places to visit when travelling to Badrinath is the Badrinath temple or Shri Badrinath Dham. Located on the Garhwal hill tracks with the Nar Narayan Mountains flanking behind, Badrinath mandir is a designated pilgrim destination. Dedicated to Lord Vishnu, the temple houses a black granite statue of Lord Vishnu in Badrinarayan form. Badrinath temple is also surrounded by many legends. While there is no clarity on the exact date the temple was built, devotees believe that Adi Shankaracharya, an Indian teacher and scholar, established the temple in the 8th century. As one of the Char Dham pilgrimages in India, every Badrinath travel package includes a trip to the temple.

Charanpaduka

Charanpaduka is a religious destination, located on the Narayan Parvat, about 3 km away from Badrinath town. As per Hindu beliefs, Charanpaduka, or footprints, is a rock formation believed to belong to Lord Krishna. Some legends also state that it is here that Lord Vishnu took his first step as he descended on Earth. These footprints are revered as a symbol of devotion and evoke a feeling of bliss in those who witness it for the first time. Moreover, the picturesque beauty surrounding this divine footstep adds to its spiritual allure.

Tapta Kund

Located near the Alaknanda riverbank, Tapta Kund or Tapt Kund is a natural hot water spring in Badrinath. Tapt तप्त, a Hindi word that means hot, is synonym with Agni dev, a revered Hindu deity of fire. Despite cold freezing temperatures, Tapta Kund remains heated because of the presence of sulphur and geothermal energy. It is believed that the Tapt Kund is rich in medicinal properties, and a dip here can cure many illnesses and skin diseases.

Bheem Pul

Located in the last village of India - Mana, Bheem Pul is a natural stone bridge levitating atop the gushing River Saraswati. Devout believers iterate the story of when Bheema, one of the Panch Pandava brothers, built this bridge for his beloved wife Draupadi, during their journey to heaven. The bridge offers some of the most captivating views of the surrounding valley. The pul is also located near Vyas Gufa and is a must-include place in your Badrinath trip itinerary.

Vyas Gufa

Vyas Gufa is a sacred cave in Mana believed to be the residing place of Maharishi Ved Vyas during the time he was documenting many Puranas, Sutra, and Vedas. The Gufa holds so much energy and a soulful vibe. There are many interesting stories narrated by guides and locals. Through our Veena World tour packages to Badrinath, you get to visit this place and cherish many facets and stories of Vyas Gufa.

Satopanth Tal

Satopanth Lake is an isolated glacial lake hidden between majestic snow-capped mountains - Mount Chaukhamba, Mount Neelkantha, Mount Swargarohini, and Mount Balakun. Shaped like a triangle, the lake is believed to have been the destination where the Trimurthis - Lord Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesh meditated. Since the lake is located at a high altitude, the only way to reach here is to trek through Mana village, Vasundhara waterfalls, Sahastradhara, bank of Alaknanda, Lakshmi van forest, and Chakratirtha meadow.

If you are one for adventures and love trekking and travelling as much as we do, then take your pick from our Badrinath travel packages.
