Historical Sites

Amaravati

Lepakshi

Famous for its architectural wonders, Lepakshi is home to 16th-century temples built in the Vijayanagara style. The hanging pillar, which barely touches the ground, is a marvel of engineering. 

Undavalli Caves

These monolithic rock-cut caves date back to the 4th-7th centuries. They showcase the transition from Buddhism to Hinduism in their architecture and sculptures. The main attraction is a large, reclining statue of Lord Vishnu carved out of a single granite block.

Tirupati

Home to the Sri Venkateswara Temple, Tirupati is one of the most visited pilgrimage sites in the world. The temple, dedicated to Lord Venkateswara, is known for its architectural beauty and spiritual significance. 

Srisailam

This holy town is home to one of the twelve Jyotirlinga temples dedicated to Lord Shiva. The Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Temple here is one of the 18 Shakti Peethas. The surrounding Nallamala forest adds to the spiritual ambience of the place.

Annavaram

Known for the temple of Sri Veera Venkata Satyanarayana Swamy, Annavaram is situated on a hill called Ratnagiri. The unique feature of this temple is that the deity is in a reclining posture. The hill offers panoramic views of the surrounding countryside.

Simhachalam

This ancient temple is dedicated to Lord Narasimha, an avatar of Vishnu.  The deity here is usually covered with sandalwood paste, which is removed only once a year during a special festival.

How To Reach Andhra Pradesh

You can reach Andhra Pradesh via road, rail, or air.

Air: Andhra Pradesh has a total of six airports, of which three are international airports. The Rajiv Gandhi Airport in Hyderabad is the biggest and most preferred airport among travellers. 

Train: There are also several railway stations in Andhra Pradesh where many trains ply from different major cities in India. The most prominent railway stations include Visakhapatnam Junction, Vijayawada Junction, Dharmavaram Junction, and Tirupati. 

Bus: Several government and private buses also ply to and from Andhra Pradesh to other Indian cities.
