The Museo Atlantico – Europe’s First Underwater Museum.

I have grown up watching Bollywood movies. DDLJ being one of my favourite films, I have always wanted to go to Europe and at last, my dream came true and I got the chance to travel to Europe in 2013.

But I can’t say that I have seen a whole of it because it has much more to it than what I saw.

My wish list has increased and I hope to visit Europe once again. Since I love water and Europe encompasses it, I have yet another reason to visit this amazing continent

Europe has always been an important tourist destination for those attracted by its rich cultural and historic legacy. Adding to its importance on the seabed is the coast of Lanzarote. A British artist Jason de Caires Taylor is creating an extraordinary series of underwater artworks concrete figures representing desperate refugees (The raft of The Medusa). The Rubicon – a group of 35 frozen human figures walk beneath the waves. There are centres on climate change that signifies a point of no return. For selfie addicts the, Botanical Garden is surely an attraction. These Sculptures is what will become Europe’s first underwater museum, and will be known as “The Museo Atlantico.”

Located near Spain’s Canary Islands this museum will feature 400 art pieces. The sculptures are created using PH- neutral marine cement. The museum plans to host plenty of marine life, including reefs, corals & Fishes. The project, which has been funded by the council of Lanzarote is hoping to increase tourism in the area. This project aims to attract tourist and also build relationships between humans and nature on a deeper level. This project develops harmony between life and art. It has deliberately created to attract sea creatures, allowing for the growth of coral in order to breathe much needed live back into the barren seas.

The Museo Atlantico will be open to Scuba divers and Snorkelers from February 25th.

The Catch? You have to snorkel 45 feet under water to see them.

So friends, this summer holiday we have all the reasons to book a tour to Europe.
