The off beaten track…

Welcoming each year with a new resolution has become a trend followed by nearly everyone, but rarely acted upon. This year, I decided to be a part of this custom and resolved to travel free & solo. To plan such a trip one needs to finalize on a destination that needs to be visited. A place can be best recognized as good or bad, once it visually satisfies the visitor’s eye. Through photographs we can directly get through the city, province or country helping it to promote itself as a tourist destination. The best part about photographs are, that we can capture the beauty of that place in a one click & relive the fond memories...Read more

The Lion Queens

The Gir National Park in India is the last known habitat for Asiatic Lions in the world. Each day brings in a new challenge. There is no busier wildlife management team in the world. However there is one crucial fact that makes what’s happening in Gir absolutely unique. The forest guards darting the lions, confronting the leopards, wrestling with the pythons and nursing a great crèche of baby animals all these are performed by an overwhelming majority of women amongst their ranks. This is perhaps the only women brigade involved in the direct wildlife management of big cats anywhere in the world...Read more

As travellers, we are constantly in a state of learning. We hear new sounds, taste different food and discover unseen sights. I had the opportunity to travel to Hong Kong a couple of years back and realized that it’s a sensory-busting experience and an exact kind of stimulation we all need atleast once in our lifetime! You're racing past gleaming futuristic towers lined in rows with expansive water views in the background. It is such a vibrant and exciting city that it is impossible to get bored here! It is rightly said that the colour of the glasses we put on our eyes determines the colour of the world around us. We tend to perceive everything in life in the light of our prejudices. These prejudices are formed over the years as we grow and evolve. We create our own little world and seldom think of going beyond it. For everyone the world is different, because it’s his/her world. ‘Jagat Mithya’ elaborates on this very philosophy of life.

It is always fascinating to know how a particular place gets its name. While naming their children people take several factors into consideration like the meaning of the name, the initial letter etc. So there is always a special kind of bond between people and the places they love and that is evident from the history of nomenclature. Australia is one such country which has a range of interesting names given to its places. The names are a wonderful mix of Aboriginal and European languages. It’s a pleasure

Sometimes travels are remembered for experiencing something a little out of the ordinary and if you are all for such experiences, then Seven Coloured Earth in Chamarel, Mauritius should be on your travel bucket list. The seven coloured earth is a natural phenomenon and a prominent tourist attraction. The colours evolved through conversion of basaltic lava to clay minerals. No one can categorically state why these undulating, dune-like knolls vary so wildly in colour. Some say the seven shades of earth were formed from volcanic ash deposits that cooled at different temperatures. Others believe that the colours of the mounds can be attributed to the differing quantity of metal oxide they each contain. Read more

Finn challenged the other giant for a proper fight & decided to build a causeway of enormous stepping stones across the sea to Scotland. This same causeway is known today as the Giant’s Causeway. Renowned for its polygonal columns of layered basalt, the Giant’s Causeway is the only UNESCO World Heritage Site in Northern Ireland.Read more
